As we near the end of 2023, here at The Original Bathroom Company, we have seen some clear interior design trends throughout the year. In 2023, it’s all about both a modern and elegant aesthetic, coupled with easy to maintain design. 

1. Style

Contemporary, minimalist bathroom design is still very much the go to trend, with many of our customers opting for sleek finishes, crisp and clear surfaces. Also, there has been a clear focus on minimalism, this style offers a fresh and uncluttered look. The emphasis on minimalism is not only for aesthetics but also for ease of cleaning, after all a bathroom is used on a daily basis so the easier to maintain the better!

2. Colour

While bold bright colours have had their moment in the bathroom design space, 2023 is the year of softer colour palettes. Timeless colours such as earthy tones, beige and grey remain ever popular and are perfect for a classic design that will stand the test of time. However, this year we have also seen new tones becoming increasingly popular with our customer base.  Soft pinks, pastel and olive greens, and blues offer a sense of tranquillity within your relaxation haven. These shades are being incorporated into the designs through tiles, paint, and furnishings. All creating a harmonious and calming atmosphere. 

3. Tiles

Bigger tiles have been extremely popular in 2023. With less grout, they offer a cleaner aesthetic, along with ease of maintenance. Depending on which range you go for, a larger format tile is more likely to give your room that wow factor. We’ve found that large marble effect tiles in particular are becoming a staple in bathroom design this year. These offer the luxurious appearance of real marble without the high maintenance and cost. Marble effect tiles instantly bring a touch of sophistication to the bathroom, creating an elegant space to relax and unwind. 

4. Unique Baths

Freestanding baths have always been popular for those looking for added luxury, but they are experiencing a surge in popularity in 2023. Freestanding baths come in a variety of styles, from modern to traditional, making them versatile additions to any bathroom.

An additional bath trend in 2023 is the back to wall bath (see picture below). These baths offer the look of a freestanding bath, but are fitted to the wall and are easier to maintain and keep clean as you don’t need to go behind them. We expect to see more of these in 2024 and beyond.

Not only do these bath fixtures serve as a functional part of the bathroom but they are also a design statement. Many clients opt to make the bath the centre piece of the room. These unique styles offer a sense of luxury that’s hard to beat, transforming your bathroom into your very own spa!

5. Rainfall Showerheads with Handsets

In 2023, fixed rainfall showerheads with a dual outlet and handset/riser rail are becoming the norm in most of our bathrooms. Customers select these for the best of both worlds, the soothing immersive experience of a rainfall shower, coupled with the convenience of a handheld showerhead.
